The Granite Mountain Training Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) Course is an Arizona Department of Health Services and AZPPSE Vocational approved program designed for certified EMTs who are ready to expand their clinical knowledge, patient assessment skills, medication administration abilities, and prehospital decision making within the AEMT scope of practice. The course builds on the EMT foundation and prepares students for expanded EMS responsibilities in ambulance services, fire departments, emergency departments, public safety agencies, rural EMS systems, and community based EMS settings.

This program is delivered in a structured 10 week hybrid format, meeting twice per week. The course includes approximately 244 total clock hours, consisting of about 100 hours of didactic and practical instruction and 144 hours of clinical and field experience. Students will complete most classroom instruction through live virtual online sessions, with approximately 3 to 4 required in-person lab sessions for hands-on skills, scenario-based training, medication administration practice, airway management, vascular access, patient assessment, and practical evaluation preparation.

Clinical and field experience is completed through ride time and approved field opportunities with ambulance, fire, or other EMS agencies. Granite Mountain Training provides students with options and assistance for completing required field hours and gaining real-world EMS experience through partner agencies when available.

Upon successful completion of all didactic, laboratory, clinical, field, and assessment requirements, students receive a Granite Mountain Training Certificate of Completion and are eligible to pursue National Registry AEMT certification testing and applicable state certification or licensure processes. The course is approved by the Arizona Department of Health Services under Arizona EMS training program requirements.

SESSIONS ARE virtual - Tuesday and Thursdays at 5pm.

Labs are announced throughout the program to ensure student schedules don't conflict and everyone can make it.
